Hybrid is a contemporary dance piece exploring idiosyncratic movement material and performance qualities of five dancers. It is an investigation into the relationship between music and dance as well as choreography, time and space. Using improvisation as the main creative tool, the choreography has emerged through collaboration and a constant dialogue between the dancers, the choreographer and the composer. With a sound score born out of the hybrid relationship between dance and music, this piece seeks to contextualise and diminish the ascendancy between the arts - treating them as one and the same.
Hybrid was presented as part of University Dance Company at DeMontfort University in February 2007. It toured nationally and internationally in the Spring and Summer of 2007 and was re-presented as part of episodes10 at Nottingham Playhouse in February 2010.
